As I have taught in high schools and colleges for the last 20 years, the biggest complaint young people have is that their parents 1) are never home 2) want to be their friend, instead of their parent. Kids take serious issue with this and find themselves reaching out to video games, drugs and alcohol to make up for the deep sadness. In one class, the kids wanted to discuss this problem for hours.  I asked my students if they would talk on camera to me about this. They did, and here are their thoughts. Thanks to Nate Letteer, Josh Keffer and Michele Strilich for shooting and editing (Nate) in a remarkable way. “Children Teach Your Parents” is an unfinished project. Please feel free to contact me with ideas for funding or grant writing to complete the documentary.
